The 7th of May 2007 changed my world...

Twas the 7th of May 5 years ago now when this perfect pink person entered our world...  I never once thought I'd be making bunting out of doilies and searching high and low for all things pink to please someone quite this much... But, I did and I love how things turned out for our special girls big  turning 5 day.
This beautiful smile is all the reward any mummy can hope for.

The party went off beautifully and was so very pretty thanks to some lovely friends and businesses involved, perhaps some ideas for your event prep in the future... If you're into pink that is...

Here's a few images of the magical party we held at Mytyme Beauty due to us leaving on our epic adventure 2 days afterwards - doing the gardens seemed like too much hard work whilst packing for 7 weeks and baking, so Cath and the girls opened the garden of the salon just for us (and 12 of Tildas little guests) to indulge in some serious nail polishing fun and a spot of girly morning tea.

They even had a sign just for her salon.

'What colour polish would you like?' Ummmm pink of course to match my new Oopsidaisi dress (Thank you Sam)

While nails were being polished and a quick pass the parcel on the lawn lots of little fingers (and big) were nibbling happily on some seriously pink sugary delights - some made by yours truly and lots of inspiration and goodies ( fairyfloss, macarons, heart candy, flowers etc) from
Thank you Phoebe for all of your help.

Pink popcorn was one of the things I was determined to perfect and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out - melted white chocolate, coloured and  drizzled over air popped corn - onto trays and into the fridge... delicious and effective..

Cake pops are one of those must have things at a party now and Tilda and Oliver were very keen to make them. I found this recipe and used all of the cupcakes that went wonky in my oven - I am so not a 50's housewife..
Great way to disguise a dodgy cupcake

The rose petal and pistachio macarons were from A Tasty Surprise - I'm not sure if anyone else ate these - I certainly had more than my fair share - completely delicious!!!

Like I said - lots of 'pink' food - wafers, marshmallows, meringues, jelly... Oh and there was watermelon and red grapes too - closest I could get to pink fruit.

Paper cupcake stand can be found at Pink Frosting - An amazing site and super fast postage

Sweet party favour bags I embellished with heart doilies and ribbon and filled  with handmade hair goodies by me...

The whole table together looks pretty sweet (apologies for the blury image) The doily bunting was paper doiles folded in half and sewn by machine - very delicate and not ideal for a windy or rainy day. I sewed satin ribbons onto every third one (mainly as I couldn't resist)

The cake!! Well, as you know I can't bake so I was planning on making cupcakes as the 'birthday cake'. I made these circle vanilla cakes to crumble for the cake pops and when they turned out better than the cupcakes I nearly fell over in shock!!! Soooo they became 'the cake' instead - phew, did that make sense?
A quick jam and cream in the middle and lots of pink icing, sparkly cachous and mounds of persian fairyfloss and Ta Da - CAKE!!

So thats about all from me, we had lots of laughs and one very exhausted birthday girl at the end of it all.... If you leave a comment, question below i'll be sure to get back to you - I do love parties....

Thank you once again to all of our guests and friends who helped us get ready for Tilda's big birthday - I couldn't have done it without you - only 10 months until the next one.... eeeekkkkk

A year!!! Really has it been that long??

Almost a year since my last entry.. oops. I am seriously not cut out for blogging it appears. Trying to keep up with our children, life, creating, FB, pinterest, instagram etc.. seems to be more than enough for this little black duck.

Thinking of Spring

Rain, rain, rain.....

Lovely for gardens, storages and farmers... but for our little family it means a Daddy away river gauging indefinitely, a leaky roof and a solar powered Mummy whose mood drops as soon as the sun goes behind the clouds - Believe me I try to stay sunny - just a quirky part of my personality that I have always had.

So to counteract all that gloom, I am focusing on creating goodies that are bright and light -  a mood lifter for sure. Lots of florals and cotton lace - pretty and sweet - I will carry this through till Summer I think and add in some voile dresses and tops with sleeves to protect our littlest loves from the sun - these florals continue to make me smile :)

Wishing you a sunny week - both in mood and climate xox

Princesses love to Party...

Who would have thought we would ever make it this far? Miss M celebrated her 4th birthday yesterday with 15 lovely little princess/knight friends and family - we had so much fun - Well I did anyway, I do hope the guests did too.

We made tiaras and played pass the parcel and ate lots of pink princess food that I am sure would rival the other recent royal bash - Thank you mum for your hard work and patience baking with Miss M while I was having a great time at a tech camp hanging out with robots and ipods etc...

I did construct the 'castle' however from Woolies sponges and alot of jam, cream and pink icing. I think I may come back as a renderer in my next life, at least bricks don't crumble like sponge does...

She is a bit wonky but was well received by the princesses... Even Matilda commented 'That is very pink Mum!!'
TIP - White chocolate is a wonderful 'glue' to attach to icecream cones and coat in edible bling.

I am hoping Mums camera holds a few more images of M's very special day - I managed to snap a few when I wasn't joining the fun...

My first attempt at floating pom poms seemed to work well, a few requests for a tutorial surprised me so here is good ole Marthas version - Mum said she used to make them to decorate floats and things for parades when she was a teen - now we have 10 of them to decorate our house, 13 foot ceilings may prove a problem - perhaps they will just stay in the yard until it rains!

Latest Exploits...

Inspired by some incredibly talented ladies for The Sewing Sisterhood - I discovered I too could make a dolly, with a felty twist of course - We called her Maggie - she is 22 inches tall, kind and very sweet and really needs a little sister or 2. Don't you just love her smile?? You may just find some of her siblings in my madeit store shortly x

With the start of the school year and me being so unorganised I ended up having to make Master O a library bag - turned out quite well don't you think? Denim and RB stars - the denim makes it tougher so the books don't get damaged and the big man loves that he got to choose the fabric himself.

Last random creation was some bunting for our upcoming pirate party - once again my disorganisation meant I couldn't call on the talented Bree from ChikkieMoo Designs to create for me - I take my hat off to those WAHM's who make bunting - while the finished result looks simple enough - If your measurements or cutting arent spot on - It turns out pretty wonky - note I photographed it  from a distance. I still have 36 flags not attached to bias - yep over ambition will kill me one day. But, it's sure to look spectacular when it's all done xx

So ends my latest exploits - Have a fabby last week of Feb everyone and I'll catch you in March after the pirate extravaganza Arrrrr xx

What will 2011 bring???

'WOW' - almost 2 months since my last post - I really do need to get on here regularly and share what we have been up to, but I am so busy doing it I forget to blog about it.

Perhaps that's a good New Years resolution seeing as though the only one I made involved baskets of unfolded washing never gracing the back lounge for longer than a day - hmmm, there is nothing loitering there at the moment, but, the window seat in our room is another matter entirely.

2011 - Well who'd have thought my wee felty business would have evolved so much in 12 months, I am loving creating, imagining and playing with so many mediums now that it's sometimes hard to decide what to work with! Thank you to all of our miraculous customers, stockists, WAHM buddies and suppliers for their support - It would never have worked as well without you xxx

The latest passion is 'lightweight'  - both denim and voile - completely different I know, but the Moree heat prompted me to find something soft and different - enter Anna Maria Horner  ( I found some voile in our local quilting shop and fell in love) I hope you do too. The style is a simple one but this voile needs little else, just so buttery and soft you have to touch it to believe it!

Our resident roughy toughy Tilda is soo hard on clothes, denim reversible dresses, seemed a perfect way to stop her destroying more gear while she tries to keep up with Oliver, that and I have so much fabric, I really needed to use some of it to justify it's existence. - Then I can buy more shhhh :)

Which brings me to what I am up to this new 2011 year xxx
A bit of a run down so you can find me if you need me - or wonder why I haven't returned your emails etc :P

Monday/Tuesday - Shelli Morse Design - creating OOAK items and listing them in my madeit store until.... SMD website coming later this year thanks to Melissa at Where to Start Websites - I can't wait and I hope you can't either - Who knows what we will come up with by then.
Custom Orders will be limited slots each month and I will announce via FB or Blog page when they are up and running.

Wednesday/Thursday - New job - Woo Hoo!!! I am lucky enough to be a p/t Country Areas Program consultant - working from Moree DET office. For those of you who have benefitted from CAP either as students, teachers or parents you will know how rewarding and innovative this program is and just too good an opportunity to pass up. I will be mainly working in the areas of Visual Arts, Music and Science with initiatives all over the place geographically - so it should be a blast to coordinate with wee family and SMD - hence the limited customs :(

Friday - Release Teacher in our small school of 12 students - It's my 9th year there this year and our students and the community are AMAZING - So much like a big happy family it's a pleasure to teach x

Saturday/Sunday - 'FAMILY' :D - I spent a lot of time last year packing the kids and hubby off to the in laws farm for weekends, that this year I decided that the weekends were for 'US' - Oh, and the washing, cleaning, ironing etc... and the odd bit of sewing - If I just can't stay away, or if the kids are watching a dodgy movie etc etc ...

Phew... If you have gotten this far - I thank you from the bottom of my heart - please leave a comment to say Hi if nothing else - I promise to blog in the near future, I know you can't wait - Ha ha  :P

Take Care xox
